Application Of Ultrasonic Cleaning Machines in Degreasing Mechanical Parts

Leave a message

Ultrasonic cleaning machines, with their high efficiency, zero dead angle, and low damage, are widely used for degreasing mechanical parts. They are particularly suitable for complex parts or stubborn oil stains that are difficult to clean with traditional cleaning methods. Coreal Machinery has compiled some information for your reference.

Industrial Ultrasonic Cleaning Machine

I. Core Principle: Why is it so efficient in degreasing?

1. Ultrasonic Generation: The transducer at the bottom of the cleaning machine converts high-frequency electrical energy into high-frequency mechanical vibrations.

2. Sound Wave Transmission: The vibrations are transmitted through the cleaning tank walls to the cleaning liquid, forming a dense, alternating pattern of high and low pressure sound waves.

3. Cavitation Bubble Formation and Collapse:

  • During the low-pressure phase, tens of thousands of tiny vacuum bubbles are generated in the liquid.
  • In the subsequent high-pressure phase, the cavitation bubbles are compressed and instantly burst.

4. Cleaning Action: The collapse of the cavitation bubbles generates extremely powerful micro-jet shock waves. These micro-jets:

  • Impact and Stripping: They impact cracks, holes, and blind holes on the surface of the part, removing stubborn oil, grease, and particulate matter.
  • Accelerated Chemical Reactions: Cleaning solutions can penetrate and dissolve oil stains more quickly, and ultrasonic cavitation significantly accelerates this physical and chemical process.

II. Specific Applications and Advantages

Applicable Part Types:

1. Complex structural parts: Such as engine blocks, gearboxes, hydraulic valve blocks, precision bearings, and other parts with blind, threaded, deep, and cross holes.

2. Precision parts: Such as precision transmission components, which require high cleanliness and must not be physically damaged.

3. Large batches of small parts: Such as screws, nuts, and gaskets can be placed in the basket for all-in-one cleaning, achieving extremely high efficiency.

Significant Advantages:

1. Thorough Cleaning, No Dead Spots: Cleans even the smallest details that are inaccessible by hand, ensuring complete cleanliness.

2. High Cleaning Efficiency: The cleaning process is typically completed within a few to ten minutes, reducing downtime for maintenance or production assembly.

3. No Damage to the Workpiece: Cleaning relies on the energy of tiny bubbles, resulting in a "soft" cleaning process that does not scratch or abrade the metal substrate, preserving part precision.

4. Consistent cleaning: As long as the parameters are set correctly, the cleaning results for each batch of parts are identical, ensuring stable and controllable quality.

III. Precautions

1. Parts Placement Guidelines:

  • Parts must be completely immersed in the cleaning fluid;
  • Complex parts should be placed with the opening facing up to prevent air accumulation in the holes; Parts in batches should be evenly distributed in the basket to avoid stacking.

2. Equipment Maintenance Requirements:

  • Regularly clean the bottom of the cleaning tank of debris;
  • Check the ultrasonic transducer weekly for looseness;
  • The pH value of water-based cleaning fluids should be regularly tested.

3. Safety Precautions:

  • When handling solvent-based cleaning fluids, ventilation must be turned on and solvent-resistant gloves must be worn;
  • The cleaning tank must not be operated dry;
  • Avoid prolonged cleaning of light metal parts such as aluminum and magnesium to prevent surface oxidation.
