Reciprocating Vibrating Screen Working Principle And Application

Leave a message

A reciprocating vibrating screen is a common screening device that separates materials by particle size through reciprocating motion (linear or near-linear periodic vibration). Coreal Machinery has compiled some information for your reference.

Reciprocating Vibrating Screen

Working Principle

  • Drive Method:The reciprocating motion is typically generated by a motor driving an eccentric shaft, connecting rod, or inertial vibrator.The screen body vibrates linearly at a certain angle (usually 15° to 30°), causing the material to jump or slide forward on the screen surface.

  • Screening Process:The material falls onto the screen surface from the feed end and is separated by vibration: fine particles pass through the sieve holes (undersize), while larger particles move along the screen surface to the discharge end (oversize).The vibration frequency and amplitude are adjustable to suit different material characteristics (such as particle size, moisture content, and viscosity).

Key Features

  • Simple structure: It mainly consists of a screen box, screen mesh, vibrating mechanism, and support springs/shock absorbers, making it easy to maintain.
  • High-efficiency screening: Suitable for medium- and fine-grained materials (such as grain, ore, and chemical raw materials), with high processing capacity.
  • Adjustable parameters: Optimize screening efficiency and productivity by adjusting the vibration frequency, amplitude, or screen angle.
  • Low clogging rate: The reciprocating motion helps reduce screen clogging, making it particularly suitable for slightly sticky materials.

Structural components

  • Screen box: The main working component of the reciprocating vibrating screen, containing a screen mesh that supports and screens the material. The screen box is typically made of riveted steel plates, forming a closed structure with the top cover to prevent dust from flying and ensure sufficient material classification.
  • Drive: Generally, a motor drives a pulley, which in turn drives an eccentric wheel. Some systems also use a vibration motor as the driving source. The drive generates vibration force, causing the screen to reciprocate on a fixed track.
  • Support: This includes rollers, booms, or a support frame, supporting the screen box and adjusting its inclination to ensure stable reciprocating motion.
  • Cleaning Device: Some reciprocating vibrating screens are equipped with cleaning devices, such as cleaning plates, brushes, and scrapers. These devices clean material from the screen, prevent clogging, and improve screening efficiency.

Maintenance Tips

  • Regularly check the screen for wear and replace it promptly;
  • Clean the material on the screen to prevent clogging;
  • Lubricate the vibrating bearings and inspect the springs and fasteners.

Application Scenarios

  • Industries: Mining, Metallurgy, Chemical Industry, Food Processing, Building Materials, Environmental Protection (such as waste sorting).
  • Typical Materials: Coal, Quartz Sand, Fertilizer, Grain, Plastic Granules, etc.
